Supporting a Greener Future for Winegrowing

Why choosing Sustainable Winegrowing Australia-certified wines from Baileys of Glenrowan is a great win for both you and the planet!

If you're someone who loves wine and cares about the environment, then choosing a bottle with the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) certification is a great way to make a positive impact. Not only does it support sustainable practices, but it also backs the Australian wine industry.

Our Sustainability Manager, Joey Sergi, explains why SWA certification is meaningful for both you and the growers and winemakers who are dedicated to doing things the right way.

“In 2009, we made a big decision to take our vineyards down a more sustainable path by transitioning to organic farming. This journey took three years, and by 2011, we were officially certified! What does that mean, exactly? Simply put, it means we grow our grapes without using any synthetic chemicals, sprays, fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, or anything else that doesn’t come naturally from the earth. We’re all about working with nature to create healthier vineyards and better wine. The natural next step was Sustainable Winegrowing Australia Certification.

SWA certification isn’t just a logo on a bottle; it represents a serious commitment to sustainable practices that protect our environment for the long haul. When you pick a wine from an SWA-certified producer, you're supporting growers and winemakers who care about reducing their environmental footprint. These sustainable practices help keep our land healthy, protect local communities, and make sure future generations can continue enjoying great wine. It’s a win for everyone, especially for wine lovers who enjoy a glass of Baileys of Glenrowan wine.

These days, we all want our choices to reflect our values. That’s where SWA certification comes in. By choosing certified wines, you’re making a statement about your commitment to supporting sustainability. This certification guarantees that the wine you're enjoying was made with a strong commitment to the environment, backed by a solid framework that ensures best practices are always followed. It’s a trustworthy pick for those of us who want to support continuous improvement in the wine world.

For the wine industry, SWA certification is a helpful tool. It gives producers a clear roadmap for sustainability, making it easier for them to document their efforts and improve over time. Plus, it helps pinpoint areas where they can do better, ensuring the entire winemaking process stays as sustainable as possible.

As more people seek out wines that reflect their values, the SWA certification makes it easier to know that your choice is helping create a positive change. With this trusted program, you can feel good about enjoying Baileys of Glenrowan, knowing your purchase is contributing to a healthier, more sustainable Australian wine industry.”

So, the next time you pour yourself a glass of wine from Baileys of Glenrowan, remember: it’s not just a great wine choice—it’s a choice for a better, more sustainable world.
